Roadmap

Scash is compatible with Bitcoin network consensus rules and scripting, as well as Bitcoin compatible Layer 2 networks such as Lightning. See the protocol spec for more details.

The Scash protocol is designed to be a small set of changes on top of the Bitcoin protocol, thus making it easier:

  • to rebase the Scash node software on new versions of Bitcoin Core

  • to answer Scash support questions as Bitcoin domain knowledge is applicable

  • to add support for Scash to existing Bitcoin related software and infrastructure

A minimal roadmap for the community is to ensure the Scash protocol is kept up-to-date with new versions of Bitcoin Core, to take advantage of security and bug fixes. This involves updating the Scash node software when there is a new major release of Bitcoin Core.

In the future, the community might decide to deploy a significant feature which is not on Bitcoin Core's roadmap and break compatibility with Bitcoin network consensus rules. If these changes support the mission of P2P cash as described in the Bitcoin white paper, the changes can be considered a network upgrade to Scash, otherwise they should be considered a hard fork away from the network.
